How much does it cost to install cabinets labor only?

How Much Does Cabinetry Installation Cost?

One of the most common home improvement projects is cabinet installation. Cabinet prices vary depending on the type of cabinet and where it is installed. Some of the most common costs associated with cabinet installation are as follows:

Labor is typically the most expensive aspect of cabinet installation. A skilled worker can expect to earn between $60 and $120 per hour.

Cabinets require a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and plastic. This can quickly add up, especially if you’re installing multiple cabinets in a single room. Materials for a typical kitchen installation should cost around $200.

Supplies: Cabinet hardware, sandpaper, paint, and other materials can quickly add up when installing cabinets. Add $50 to $100 to your total cost estimate for supplies alone.

Cabinetry Types

Cabinetry, and especially cabinet hardware, is one of those big-ticket items that you don’t want to skimp on. A poor installation can cause premature wear and tear on your furniture, which can end up costing you much more in the long run. When determining how much it will cost to install, consider the following three types of cabinet hardware:

1. Cabinet hinges and pulls: These are the most basic types of cabinet hardware and come in a variety of finishes and styles. They’re also relatively inexpensive, making them an excellent choice for frugal homeowners.

2. Knob and handle sets: If you have a lot of cabinets with different types of handles (such as knobs on one side and buttons on the other), you’ll need a set of these. They may be more expensive than hinges and pulls, but they frequently come with a longer warranty, ensuring that the installation is flawless.

3. Hidden screws: These are great for securing cabinets against movement or if you have particularly bulky cabinets that would otherwise require multiple screws per fastener. They are more expensive than other types of cabinet hardware, but they are worth it if you need something extra secure and don’t mind doing a little more work when installing your cabinets.

Cost of Cabinet Installation

Stock Cabinet Labor: The amount of labor required will be largely determined by the type of cabinet and the specific installation location. In general, however, a standard installation could cost between $50 and $100.

Semi-custom cabinet labor: Typically ranges from $75 to $250 per hour, depending on the skill level of the laborer and the complexity,  of the job. Additional materials, such as crown molding or drawer pulls, may also be required for installation. Prices may also vary depending on whether you hire a professional installer or do it yourself.

Labor for Fully Custom Cabinets: Labor for fully custom cabinets is typically more expensive than standard cabinetry, ranging from $200 to $450. This is due to the additional time and effort required to install a fully customized cabinet. However, if you want a one-of-a-kind design that isn’t available from a standard cabinet supplier, the additional cost may be worthwhile.

Depending on the type of cabinets you are installing, installing them can be a simple or difficult task.
